Hocus Pocus Trailer

Low key lighting is been used to create an effect of something scary as this is movie is about witches and this can be shown in the start of the trailer where thunder crackles and a women laughs which creates enigma codes as it is some sort of suspense and mystery as well as when they show the three witches who are also sisters on their death bed as they are getting hanged they say ‘we shall be back’ which also creates mystery to them coming back which targets their audience as they know that something is going to happen as well as it makes the movie more interesting to watch. The voice over explains more about the trailer to the viewer’s so they can go and watch this. Binary opposition is used by the way it has 3 witches vs. the 3 kids together of how it is good vs. evil. The setting comes under Mis-en-scene and it is mostly in the old house and the grave yard which connotes it to be scary. In the start of the trailer a cat jumps out and screeches which connote witches as cats are a typical prop that is used all the time when witches are involved.
The three witches who are also sisters enchant there spells in the start of the trailer represents the witches which shows the audience what might happen, if this trailer was on billboards then the children/teenagers who are the target audience would pester their parents to take them to the cinema and watch this which Is called ‘pester power’.
