2011 Barbie Dolls

The use of pink stereotypes the girls as pink connotes more of a femine colour, which shows that this is targeted at young females. The use of colours represents their target audience as many girls like pink, however other bright colours were used like purple, blue, yellow etc. this was used to catch their audiences attentions as it appealing and stands out then other colours. High key lighting has been used throughout the advertisement to make everything stand out and can be shown to the audience. However if this advertisement comes on TV then they are more likely to pester there parent to make them buy this, which is called pester power as children always get there way when they annoy their parents to buy this.

The dolls are all being shown together in the advertisement which is a technique as they are promoting the dolls together which is individual prices so if a girl askes for all of those then her parents will have to buy each doll individually which gives them more money to make as this will benefit them even more. Voice over has been used to engage their audience to buy this, however the secondary audience is more likely to be the parents as they will be buying this for their daughters. The voice over has been of a female which is represented as the ‘voice of god’ . In the beginning the voice over introduces Barbie and her sisters to the audience to show what they are getting if they buy them. Different voice overs have been used to represent all the sisters, the younger sister has a voice over of a child which is suggest to show her own role to the audience . Barbie’s logo has been shown throughout the whole advertisement to sell their brand; the logo is also in pink to convey the meaning that it is targeted at the females. Different shots have been used to show the different sides of the product to the viewers which then they can purchase.
