Snoop Dogg places a counter which is Katy Perry on the board as there is a sign which says ‘start’.  A dice is rolled on the board game to see what Katy Perry will do. The name of this video ‘California Gurls’ is suited for a younger audience as it’s known for a young night style, the word ‘Gurls’ is targeted at the teenagers as this word is known as slang, however Katy Perry was born in California which connotes the name of the song ‘California Gurls’.

In the video there are many bright colours used which grabs the audience’s attention, the target audience would mostly be teenagers; this can be shown by the name of the song. The word ‘Gurls’ implies that it is slang, however slang is used mostly by teenagers .When Katy Perry smiles and waves at the gummy bears which are shown animated, they stick their middle finger up which is not suitable for the kids, which again shows that its mostly targeted at the teenage audience.

While Katy Perry is walking around the board game she touches the branch of a tree which those turn into a snake, the colour of the snake is yellow and white with stripes just like a normal snake would be. Katy Perry sings about candy floss in her music video and the clouds in her video is represented at candy floss which then conveys the meaning of the softness of the cloud and the way it looks.

In the end of the music video Snoop Dogg who is shown as an evil person has an army of gummy bears to capture Katy Perry, throughout the video it includes deserts and sweets so when the army of gummy bears come she brings out the whipped cream which is represented as the guns to shoot the gummy bears. Many bright colours have been used such as blue, blue symbolises water, natural and summer which links to the video as it has a beach look at the end which suggests the summer.

High key lighting has been used throughout the video which makes it bright and appeals to the audience, Different shots have been used to convey the meaning of the extract, the close ups gives the audience a chance to see the facial expressions of whats happening, for example when Snoop Dogg is sitting on the throne it has a close up of him showing his facial expressions.

Barry M- Wake up your Makeup

The first shot of the advertisement is a women walking in the middle of the set where all around her is white while she is carrying a guitar which gives sort of a mystery what will happen next, but she starts to play the guitar and bright colours are shown which then gives the audience a feeling of Barry M. This advertisement targets the audience attentions who are female teenagers that wear make, which can also be shown by the way the main person in this advert is a female herself.

The main women walks in without makeup and looking plain, as she starts to play the guitar the bright colours that are being used are shown throughout the extract with the way she has different eye shadows, this can be shown by the way it conveys the message that this brand had variety of colours to choose from. The dark lipstick and bright nail polish that is been used represents the brand to make it appeal to the audience what ‘Barry M’ are selling, however the use of bright colours that are been used targets their audience as it is eye catching.

High key lighting been used to make sure the viewers can see what is happening and what the purpose of the make-up is.

The close up of the women playing the guitar shows the audience what the ‘Barry M’ makeup can do, she closes her eyes which gives the viewers a chance to see what the eye shadow is like if it is worn on an individual, Throughout the advertisement she has kept her eyes closed which gives everyone a chance to see how it is set which appeals to the audience more as it has an explosion of different colours. A voice over has been used at the end as it says ‘Barry M – wake up your makeup’, which engages the audience to buy the product, however the use of a female voice over attracts the audience more as it relates to a female person. The extract is a video from the Oscars of a guy who is from the film that is releasing soon called ‘Dictator’, this shows that he is promoting his movie and wants the audience to watch this. However Dictator is meant a person who is a ruler and has control over the government and the way he is dressed it indicates that he is powerful. The lighting that has been used throughout the video is high key lighting and this is for the audience to pay attention and to see what is happening. The clothing that has been used is like a general of an army. This film is shown to be a comedy of the way that he is speaking and the incident that has happened with the presenter.

Ethnicity is represented in different ways and this is by the way the ‘Dictator’ is a general is talking and acting different from people around him as they are Americans. The funny scene where the dictator drops the powder on the presenter shows the film will include comedy as also the way he is speaking as this helps to promote their movie.
